What is Alpha?
Alpha is the beginning. The beginning of what? Come and see. We have all asked ourselves the BIG questions. Why am I here? What is life all about? Is it about things? Is it true that he who dies with the most things wins? Is there winning at the end of life?
If you ask any of the 29,000,000 people around the world who have participated in an Alpha course you would get a similar answer. Alpha is about discovery. It is about finding truth. It is very personal. Alpha changes lives. It changes how we think, it changes our decision process. Alpha allows you to explore the issues of life, faith and God.
Alpha at St. Louise
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to explore the meaning of life by asking these questions and any others in the context of a local church community where they can come and see Jesus, in a non-judgmental community of love.
The Alpha philosophy at St. Louise can best be stated by quoting Father Raniero Cantalamessa, Preacher to the Papal Household. “I especially appreciate the ecumenical spirit of Alpha. There is no pressure on anybody to join a different denomination, but just to join Jesus.”
How does it work?
It works simply. Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the Christian faith over eleven consecutive weeks. Each session starts with food (typically a light meal), a short talk or video that looks at a different question of faith and follows with a small group discussion.
Call and talk with our Alpha Coordinator, Gloria Cameron 248-880-9866, M-F 8am – 5pm.
